  3. I'm loving this blogging 101 series! So many wonderful tips! I agree with all of you about the blog layout. For the first 9 months that I started blogging, my layout looked like a child put it together lol. And the name of my blog was even worse! So...I kinda understand why some people didn't stick around and/or come back. Obviously, the most important thing at the end of the day is content, but like you all said it's the experience people have when they visit your blog as a whole:)!

  4. Personally, a good layout makes all the difference to me when I'm reading a blog - and that fact is the reason I decided to make over my own! But I think it all depends on the individual reader... some people don't mind clutter in life and likely don't mind it online, either :)

  5. Layout is important. I agree with Cee, it's all about personal choice and that's essentially what a blog is, your own.

  6. Thank you for this. Although I do believe you should be happy with how you design your blog, you should also consider your readers.

    1. Making it easy to navigate is crucial , you can add your own touch etc but you right consider your readers.

  7. Oh lay-out is SO important! You should choose a design that you like of course, but in the end the wrong font or color combination or a bad structure can really demotivate readers to come back.

    1. Yes it really can , personal experience if I cant navigate your blog and am spending tons of my time just trying to figure out how to enjoy your content , I am NOT coming back haha.

  8. Lay-out is so important and critical for readers to keep coming back. The theme you use is so important too, and also to try to make everything from your lettering style, to your colors all look good. Thanks for the great post as usual dear and for your support on my blog! Have a lovely day! xx Pip

  9. I really enjoyed this post, being that my new blog is less than three months old, I must admit that I am battling to develop the layout to what I find aestetically attractive .. I suppose it's a work in progress :)

    1. It takes time , I am now in my 6 month of blogging and I already feel like I want to redo my blog , so just keep trying out new things until you find what makes you happy and is easy to work with for your readers.

  15. I'll admit that at the moment I don't love my layout mostly because I know that the navigation needs work. I've been slowly and steadily working on a new layout whenever I can find a few minutes but it all takes so long , tweaking the images and getting the html right, but I've found that I actually enjoy it so I'm going to take my time and only update it when I have it "perfect" - which at the rate I'm doing it will be a few weeks yet!

  16. I totally agree on a clean lay out! And I think that the fact that the majority of the very successful blogs have a crisp clear layout is testament to this!

  18. I really think the content and writing of a blog is so more important... its like bad illustration and how people say we should never judge a book by its cover... that's what a blog layout / template is, the cover!
Don't be hatin on the less technologically inclined people ;)

    1. I totally get what you saying and it really would be true in a perfect world but come on a nice(which is different for everyone) layout isn't that hard to achieve ,its just about keeping it user friendly , not hating on anyone ;)

  20. content is like one's inner beauty whereas layout is like the makeup we put on our face. thus we should pay attention to both. first impression counts no matter what. for eg. it really irks me when bloggers place their comment buttons at the top of their blog posts. it's just doesn't make much sense. don't readers have to finish reading the entire post before leaving a comment?? why make your readers scroll all the way up searching for the comment button???

    1. I have to agree with you as much as we would love to emphasize on content blogging is a full package, content ,layout everything goes hand in hand . I have to say though the comment button comes in useful when you want to read that specific post and the page is taking to long, click the comment button and you just reading the post you desire to read.

  21. Not everyone is a design master...so I think it´s not the worst thing to not have the most perfect design but it sure helps turning your blog into a go-to!
