Art is therapy

Hi all,

I'm so thrilled to be sharing  this fun collaboration. I have been saying for ages I wanted to brighten up my bedroom. I wanted a fresh new vibe to my very classic all white bedroom with nude accents. Finding the perfect pieces for such a sacred space is often daunting but with the awesome people of Photowall its was easy peasy lemon squeezy. 

The process was nothing shy of seamless. The choices were endless, but the site filtered beautifully to what you were searching for whether it was countries, colour, posters, wall murals... all available in 48 hours delivered to the comfort of your home.

I chose the beautiful Santorini church. It included the gorgeous crisp white aesthetic I adore but was vibrant enough to be very different and a breathe of fresh air.  Putting it together took less than 30 minutes. With perfectly explained directions.  Needless to say I highly recommend them to meet your decor needs.

Maternity pictures and little chit chat

Its been a while, I feel like for the last year I have been saying that very frequently at the start of every post. I apologize for that...

After giving birth I at first had this insane sense of urgency... get fit, blog, get "normal" again. But in all honesty it was merely the most impossible thing to me, huge applause to the moms who bounce right back but that was NOT me. My little Matteo was feeding every one and a half hours, I was barely sleeping and I have been basically running on reserve for 6 months. Its been crazy. So I made the executive decision regarding my life, no blogging until he is eating semi solids and I can sleep train him. I will be brutally honest, I felt like I failed myself. You need to understand  I have worked on my blog for years, there has been many many late nights invested into this site of mine and I had many goals that had a sell by date. Not to mention I wanted to be that instant fit new mom but I seriously just couldn't do it. 

I swear more often than not I was new mom stalking. Comparing us on the most tiniest details ...oh she left the house, oh my gosh how did she snap back so freaking fast, oh my soul is she really the queen of multi tasking, it was endless and exhausting. Then I had this major epiphany after getting a instagram dm from another new mom wondering how on earth I found the time to still be active on social media. It was then that I realized we all just post our triumphs, our highlights and the real stuff happens to ALL of us behind the scenes. I started easing up on myself and really started to live in my new mom moments. 

You sometimes just need to have a serious talk to yourself. "Listen woman you are human, you just brought a whole new human into this world... chill the f out."

Anyway 6 months later, my baby is eating semi solids, I officially start sleep training him today and I feel ready to dive back in.

I decided to start back om the blog bus by sharing some of my favorite pregnancy pics which was taken by my friend Helen. Every time I look back at these pictures I smile because I can vividly remember how huge I felt. How the time was drawing closer and I was starting to feel very freaked the f out. The idea that soon I would be bringing home a little human was consuming my every thought. Today I feel like the luckiest person in the world.

Sorry for the silence

Life has been about lots of juggling around, personal, work wise and its been insane to get posts up. Its something I am determined to work on because without blogging I have felt like there is been a big void in my life. There is so many things I want to catch you up on and Ideas I have. So don't worry there really will be activity on here. But for now follow along on instagram where its a medley of food, inspirational words, epiphanies and much more about my life behind the blog.

Im back!!!

This trip was nothing short of a great adventure, experiencing new things and seeing life in a new way. I have to say a huge thank you to Bart for planning it ALL and showing me around his wonderful world and his friends and family for the loving kindness... you guys are awesome. I have to admit though I am thrilled to be back. The sunny days here even if they not extremely hot currently, I missed it, I missed it all. The little "nip" in the air with the heat of the sun on your skin and those amazing early sunrises. Oh my word how I missed sunny South Africa!!!

Yes I know I was planning to post more often but In all honesty a blog break was needed... I mean really really needed (Girlfriend was feeling burned out in many ways). I also wanted to be present while in Europe and really enjoy and embrace the beautiful surroundings and life had been so stressful prior to the trip that I desperately needed a minute to breathe ... know what I mean my loves? 

One more positive of being back is I have finally recovered from my pesty cold and feel alive whooooo ooooooh!!! I was a sick mess for two weeks. Anywhoozy hope things are looking positive on your side?  Posts will be back to normal very soon and I will be sharing more pictures from my trip on the blog soon. With that said, even though I want to share many many stories of my trip and share every picture I took I am really looking forward to getting back to topics other than just my trip... food, relationship talk, motivation, blog tips and so forth with the occasional travel stories in the mix. Hope that is fine with you? Let me know, your input is always important to me. 

Time for the dreaded unpacking,

De Paris avec amour: Europe trip update part one!

My trip has basically only begun, yet I feel like I have been here both longer and shorter, its weird to say but true. I have seen so much I went from Leuven, Ghent, Knokke-Heist, Holland, Bruges and Antwerp and now Paris in a matter of days... a week to be precise. I have taken so many pictures that Bart said "you kinda have more than enough pictures by now" haha! Never!. 

There's so much I want to talk about and tell you about but I don't know where to start... So while laying in a gorgeous hotel in Paris I thought why not share one picture from each place for now. Its so picturesque here, it would be a crime if I didn't share something. No fear though I am here for a few more weeks and my new adventure is a few days in Paris so as I have said in previous posts I highly recommend following me on Instagram for more frequent updates or Facebook as my instagram is linked to fb too.

Kitchen Fever

If you a lover of food, baking, cooking you are a women cut from the same cloth as me, I am an avid kitchen queen. Which means I spend quite a ton of time browsing sites and putting together a mental image of my dream kitchen you know where I would cook up a storm, pour some wine and just take tons and tons of pictures of my creations (for instagram of course haha).

My life lately in pics

Life has been really fun (for a lack of a better word) lately, and since I have been so super quiet on the blog lately I decided to share some pictures of my life these last 2 months.

From Durban with love.

I just got back from a blissful Durban trip with the boyf and friends it was so much fun makes me miss the chilled coastal life but this trip was exactly what I needed, I actually think its exactly what we all needed, only terrible part was the traffic going and coming, so insane. So what fun things did we get up to? Bunnies (not an actual bunny) at Ushaka Marine world, some went surfing, kite fun by the way how awesome is flying a kite on the beach ?? loved it, some day drinking and obviously more eating with new and old friends and my lovely sister, such a ton of absolute fun!

In other news , I'm trying to figure out what new series can replace the blogging 101 series, so if you new and haven't checked it out , do so :) you might like it.

In love with all things pretty

I've been loving soft pretty neutrals and pinks (obviously) I don't know if it is because its heading into cuddle up by the fire season or just because my softer fashion side is breaking through , before i'd team feminine pieces with edgier pieces but all of a sudden all things pretty soft and sweet is getting my attention.

So my weekend was a good one had such fun with my family yesterday we spent it at my favorite place in Johannesburg Market on main , ended up doing a lot of salsa dancing which as you know I adore! Whats new on my molome...

Hellooooo everybody , did you have an awesome weekend please tell me about it in the comments :) I love reading them , this weekend was a busy one thank goodness !!! I hate being bored haha we hit up a movie premiere of The Host , Argentine festival , family get together and trying to get my bb to work , as you might have noticed my Saturday Six post wasn't published as usual instead I did this post, I mean good cause and fashion ?! like hello. I have so many pictures to get through but this is a recap of the past 4 days , yes 4 days because its a long weekend , I'll be the first to say this year it didn't feel like Easter at the Silva's maybe on Good Friday but other than that it was more a long weekend .
