What we think about ...

The other day while enjoying the winter sun I thought why are we so hard on ourselves  ? why is it that we don't believe we deserve happiness ? another question that came to mind mind was why on earth do we spend so much time looking for things that can go wrong ,things that have gone wrong and so forth . Now trust me when I say this I have my fair share of days like this , but , I really do try hard to snap out of it pretty quick and this is how I do it , I go through a mental list of everything that's going right in my life . My gratitude list . Now you might be thinking oh Megs you have no idea what i'm going through , you don't know that my bills are due and life's so tough but here is a tiny list that might just make you feel like you are one blessed person .

  • you have 1 meal a day : whether it is peanut butter and jam or pasta , you are blessed there is many people who die of starvation who do not have that luxury .
  • that awesome warm shower you took , where you shampoo'd your hair used your loofah and sang your favorite jams , there is someone out there having nurses give them a sponge bath because they don't have the strength to.
  • you hate your job : can you imagine not having that income , not able to pay your rent , buy food etc.

Trust me when I say this , you are blessed ! I am blessed ! So when those bad days come knocking , sit back and go through your own personal list , it might not be the same as mine but there must be something you grateful for . This might seem like a heavy topic but it really isn't meant to be basically all I am saying is , be grateful , accept happiness and focus on the positive amazing parts of your life. What we think about and thank about we bring about (teachings of the secret).

This is my personal gratitude list today , I find new things to be grateful for everyday :
  • I'm so grateful for my loved ones who are still around , I have lost so many people but I am so so so grateful for every day that I am blessed to have those who are still here around.
  • Food , I come from a very tough childhood but I have to say I have never gone hungry in my life .
  • I have internet , I get to connect with amazing people every single day , to work or to just have fun .
  • The roof over my head , I get to snuggle up in a warm bed , take showers and baths , cook , watch series , so blessed.
  • Things are working out for my friends and family , their happiness makes me happy .
  • I am grateful for the new day , I get to do whatever I love and want to do and that is really cool .
  • ..... I could go on all day .
So tell me whats one thing you are grateful for today?

  1. Such a great post Meg, and so true! We always tend to overlook the small/minor things in our life that other people would literally die for! The one thing that I am grateful for today is that I am blessed with the most amazing Family and friends...they have seen me in my darkest and most happiest moments of my life :) They are the "wind beneath my winds"!!!!! Much love xxxx

  3. Such a great post and it's so important to focus on what we have as opposed to what we don't have.
I am so grateful for my husband, our own house and our families

  4. Hear hear!
Sometimes when we get bogged down with stress it's good to take a step back, take a deep breath, and think about all of the good things that we do have in our lives, that so many other people do not :)

  5. Lovely post Meghan! This day has definitely started out like "one of those days." But I will definitely try to think about all the positives when I start thinking "oh this job!"

    Thanks!

  6. I'm grateful for the opportunites I've been given and those I've worked really hard to get and I'm grateful for the risks/chances/decisions I've made that have brought me to where I am today.

    This is a beautiful post.

  7. There are so many people that need to read this. Because there are so many people that are ungrateful for what they DO have. I'm very thankful for everything I have. Trust me, it can all be taken away with the blink of an eye. I listen to Joel Osteen and he once said, "your situation is subject to change". It's the truth! It could be good or bad and it can come at any time. I always try to give back when I can.

  8. This is one of those post that will touch everybody's nerves. Because we all complain. The most recent one is about work but then i turn around and thank God that i at least have a job, there are so many that do not have one and are struggling so much.

There was a time where we were not even sure whether there will be food to eat but same as you we never went hungry, all glory to God.

There is a lot that i am thankful for and most importantly that i am still alive.

when i go through bad times, i try my hardest to think of the positive things to help me get through the current situation.

I should stop otherwise, this will turn into a another post :P

  10. Lovely post, Meghan. It's true, we need to realize how lucky we are and we need to be grateful for the simple things in life, and not just take them for granted. Today I am grateful to be sitting here side by side with my boyfriend, each working on the computer but still together.

  11. I needed this post today. I've been feeling down because my internship is coming to an end, but I have to realize that not everyone gets the opportunities that I do. Thanks for lifting me up!
