Turmeric Thursday Tips

I'm a huge fan of finding added benefits about spices , natural remedies really gets my brain working ,my theory is we cook with them so why not see what else they can be good for , my best friends mom introduced me to Turmeric and milk when I use to battle to sleep (I suffered from major insomnia for the last 4 years) it is so calming that turmeric is now on the monthly shopping list , It has so many health benefits so I decided to do a whole post on it :)

Health benefits :

  1. Natural antiseptic
  2. Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia
  3. Its a natural pain killer
  4. May aid in weight management HELLO
  5. Has been shown to stop growth in tumors
  6. Assist in healing damaged skin
  7. Is used in Chinese medicine to aid with depression .
Read more , yes there is more health benefits here :) so awesome , right?!

Turmeric Milk:

  • Cup of milk
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • honey/sugar as per personal taste
  • 1 tsp turmeric

mix it all together in the cup of milk , warm it up in the microwave for 90 seconds and enjoy the relaxation that follows.

Beauty Mask:

Thandi Newton uses turmeric as a beauty weapon and so does my besties mom and they both look amazing , so I ended up doing some research (google) and found this awesome Turmeric Face Mask as seen on Henry Happened
  • 2 tablespoons flour or oats
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons milk or yogurt
  • Few drops of honey
For more instructions read here

I use Turmeric in 2 ways #1 to aid with sleep I struggle to feel relaxed but a cup of turmeric milk and I'm in sleep heaven and #2 recently for my skin because lets face it Turmeric helps with wrinkles and I'm all for anything that is anti-aging .

Have you tried Turmeric yet?

  1. This is so interesting, I've never heard of using tumeric as a sleep aid. Would you say it's save for children? I ask because my 2 year old has such a hard time falling asleep each night.

    1. I've read that, 1/4 of what you would give an adult is the maximum dose for kids but as I'm not a doctor or herbalist the safest bet is too find the nearest herbalist and perhaps get better advice from him/her, its always better to do added research when it comes to kids. Xo
