Papo secos (portuguese rolls)

Ingredients(makes 24 rolls):

  • 1 packet yeast
  • 7 cups flour
  • 3 cups self raising flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 water
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil ( you can use 1/4 cup margarine)

Instructions:

Mix yeast sugar &salt in 1 cup warm water, scald milk and 3/4 cup water here's a microwave way to do so :)
let the scald milk cool down ,once that's done you ready to mix the flour , scald milk mixture and yeast mixture together.

Kneed the dough adding the olive oil a little at a time until its smooth with remaining olive oil coat the bowl.

Boil some water place it in a big bowl , place the bowl with dough in into the bowl with hot water(do not place dough in hot water place the 1 bowl into the other bowl) , cover with a damp cloth and a blanket.

Wait until it doubled in size. kneed again on a floured surface , make round balls flatten it with your hand , make the crease with the side of your hand, pinch ends , and place on a clean cloth to rest for about 40 minutes.

30 minutes into the resting time preheat your oven to 200

Place rolled dough on a lightly oiled and floured tray , brush with milk , sprinkle flour on top place it into the oven , lower heat to 180.

Bake for 15 minutes or until its a very light brown .
